For Oliver
on his fourth birthday
From Grandpa
Jamieson

As you probably know, most sharks are mean and nasty. All they do is swim and eat. They don't even sleep - ever! This makes them very unpopular with the other fishes.
And you can't really blame them. Would you want to be a shark's next meal? The Magic 8-Ball says "NO!"
But this story is about a different kind of shark. His name is Ollie and he is a fun-loving shark.

Ollie has lots of friends and gets invited to all of their parties. He loves to wear party hats and has quite a collection of them.
Ollie's best friend is a seahorse named Seabiscuit. One day, Seabiscuit invited Ollie to a seahorse race.
"Will you be racing?" asked Ollie.
"Yes," said Seabiscuit, "and I'm really excited about it! Will you come?"
"Sure!" said Ollie, "I wouldn't miss it for all the fish in the sea!"
Ollie wore his pirate hat to the race. It was a beautiful day, with the sun shining down through the water. The seahorses lined up and Ollie slapped his fins together to start the race.
They were off! Seabiscuit jumped out to an early lead and sped through the water. None of the other seahorses could catch him. A few minutes later, Seabiscuit crossed the finish line. He had won!
All of the other seahorses congratulated Seabiscuit. Seahorses are very good sports, you know.

Another one of Ollie's friends is a big blue whale named Blubba. He is HUGE!
A two-pager if I ever saw one!

"How do you like my baseball cap?" asked Ollie as Blubba swam slowly past.
"Cool!" said Blubba, "but I have to run. I don't have gills like you, so I have to go back up to the surface to take a breath of fresh air."
"OK!" said Ollie, "See ya!"
