Hi! I'm Strawberry Shortcake and I'm going to teach you how to extract DNA from a strawberry!

STEP ONE

Ask your parent to put rubbing alcohol in the freezer so it gets nice and chilly!

Measure 6 tablespoons

of water into a clear cup.

STEP TWO

Add 2 teaspoons of dish soap to the water.

STEP THREE

Stir in one fourth teaspoon of salt and mix it all together.

This is the extraction mixture.

STEP FOUR

Place one strawberry into a plastic zipper-lock bag.

STEP FIVE

Pour the extraction mixture into the bag with the strawberry.

STEP SIX

Remove as much air from the bag as possible and seal it closed.
