Today we are going to learn about the phases of the moon.

These are the phases of the moon. They repeat after the last phase is complete.

The first phase of the moon is called the New Moon. You really can't see it because the entire moon is dark.

The next phase is the Waxing Cresent. The light from the sun is shining on the right side. That's how we know it's waxing.

The next phase is called First Quarter. The first half of the moon is shining.

The next phase is the Waxing Gibbous phase. More than half of the moon is shining during this phase.
