After being away from my best friend for five months, it was time to go visit mi hermano, Parker, in Grananda, Spain! He had been there for three months, studying abroad and engulfing himself in the culture.

With four years of Spanish courses under my belt, I was ready to try out my own skills!

My mom, dad, and I boarded our avión and prepared for an 8-hour flight. There was lots of sleeping involved!

After stretching our legs for a bit, we hopped in a cab and headed to the bus station, where a six-hour bus ride awaited us. I had my first conversación with a native speaker!

"Señorita, ¿a dónde vas?"

¡Hola señor!

"¡La estación de autobuses por favor!"

Following the long bus ride, we waited...and waited...and waited...for my brother to arrive and pick us up. 30 minutes went by, then an hour, then an hour and 30. WHERE WAS PARKER?!

Tres hours later, we got a call from Parker, explaining how he had fallen asleep and missed his flight from Dublin to Granada, where he took a weekend trip. We were now amateur Spanish speakers wandering the city of Granada. Uh oh!

I took the lead, asking around for

directions to our hotel.

After lots of pointing and saying, "Gracias!" we finally arrived and immediately went to bed after such a long journey. Here was our beautiful view!

The next morning, Parker showed up with a guilty look on his face. We quickly laughed it off and began exploring the beautiful ciudad!

Spain is known for its comida increíble!
