There once was a sweet, little girl,

Maria was her name,

But she did not play with her toys,

Only with online games!

Until one day, Maria's mum

Said 'Maria! Come quick!

There is a baddy on the streets

Who's making people sick!'

'He's powerful, invisible, 

Corona is his name,

He's so unkind to those he meets-

This isn't a fun game.'

'I'm not scared!' Maria said,

'I'm as brave as can be!

I'm super strong, I'm super fast,

There's no way he'll get me!'

'But you can't see him,' Mummy said,

'He takes you by surprise,

and grabs you when you least expect-

He has a smart disguise.'

A bad guy that you couldn't see?

Maria thought this weird.

But how would she know if this guy

Just suddenly appeared?

'Who is the good guy?' Maria asked,

'Please tell me that there's one!'

'There is,' said Mum, 'Captain Handwash-

He makes Corona run!'

'Brave Captain Handwash is our friend

During these crazy days,

He makes sure that our hands are clean

So that we'll be OK.'

'Though Captain Handwash helps a lot,

Corona's spread too far.

Now Handwash alone can't help us-

We must stay where we are.'

'We'lll stay in our house,' Mummy said,

'Until he goes away.'

'Well, I don't mind!' Maria said,

'I'll have more time to play!'

'With all the tablet time I want

And all the online games,

I'll use the tablet all morning

and nighttime, do the same!'

So lots and lots of days went by,

Maria had sore eyes

When using the tablet all day-

Hardly a big surprise!
