I would pick the one with the pictures because it looks a lot 

easier to read and it doesn't look like the normal books we get 

at school. What are these types of books called?

Books with both pictures and words are called graphic novels. 

They look like comic strips and tell a story.  

It doesn't matter what type of learner or reader you are, 

anyone can read a graphic novel.

When you read a graphic novel you learn about different 

cultures. 

You can read and write better after reading a comic or graphic 

novel. This means that you increase your literacy. 

Graphic novels are a great read for people who are learning a 

new language. The pictures help the reader know whats 

happening in the story. 

Graphic novels can be used in subjects like science and social 

studies as well as English.
