I am different

I wonder why others bring hate to different people

I hear bad-mannered people swarm around me 

I want more understanding people to believe in me

I am a protector for others 

I pretend to not hear the negative words come out of individuals mouths

I feel attacked by the cold words 

I worry society will only get more spiteful

I cry due to the words hitting deep at home

I am shielding my sister from the outside world

I understand some don’t want to ask questions 

I say words that could hurt others in the future, only in defense 

I dream to have a world full of ken minds 

I try to speak louder for others in the back 

I hope there will be a change in citizens mindset to think before you speak

I am a good sister.

I Am Poem: I Am A Protector

I Am Poem: I Am A Protector

The poem that i wrote as a protector, is to write about how negative society can be and how doubtful people can be around folks they do not know, or even know there story about what may be wrong with them. A lot of people put thoughts into there head and think for themselves instead of speaking politely to the person. I surrounded this poem about my sister and her difficulties with others speaking bad upon her. Most of society do not understand that the person who is "different" has feelings just like regular people. i chose to use simile for most of my poem, as i stated "like" or "as" a lot in the poem, which people tend to say when they describe someone or somebody.

Bio Poem: Hailey Melanson

My bio poem was portrayed as a few words describing me and who i am. The words i chose were more what i thought meant to me the most and describe me to the fullest. i stated some metaphors such as sitting in front of the sun, where i am the most (the beach). i tried to put words that i think myself be described as, many other people may think different if they don't know my true self. i tried to stay away from oxymoron since they tend to be more confusing and not understand the point that your trying to get across.

Taking her dogs on walks, taking photos, trips to the Beach

Who feels Ecstatic when she wins a race, finds seashells, and helps her sister with school work

Who needs attention from others, sit in front of the sun, time with her dogs 

Who gives advice to those who need it, help when friends are down, love when her dogs miss her

Who fears spiders, people coughing, and unsanitary places

Re-Creation Poem: Summer Nights

Orange skies around my face

The days feel as hot as fire  

I smile when i see the sunset begin

A girl strolls by on her bike 

The trees begin to be windy and loud 

The girl sits back on her bike with her candies 

As the frost crawls into the night

I swarm myself with jackets

Weighted down by blankets i sit on the ground

I watch as the final light of the orange skies 

Re-Creation Poem: Summer Nights

The poem Summer Nights is a re-creation poem of how i always envisioned my perfect summer. i tried to make it as fan fiction as possible, and perfect as possible. I also wanted to create a poem were other teens could relate to something such as a dreamy summer. I used the hyperbole effect multiple times to get that different viewpoint on the poem. As well as metaphor was used while saying "sitting in front of the sun".

Stylistic Imitation Poem: 10 Minutes

This imitation poem meant a lot to me since it was such a big topic/deal to America. This tragic event that happened in Las Vegas put a burden on America for the rest of 2017. I used some hyperbole in the poem to extenuate the event. I also tried to put as much basic information that happened the night of the tragedy . I hope i spread the message of what the poem was mainly about.

Stylistic Imitation Poem: 10 Minutes

Only ten minutes later the tragedy had happened

It was only 10:05 at night 

The happiness of others energy being brought together

A hot desert night listening to country music

Shots fired 

The shooter was hidden away in a hotel 

Nobody was even aware of the future catastrophe 

Only ten minutes long.

58 helpless bodies lay on the dead grass

Only ten minutes. 

How could someone so inhumane do such a thing 

Only ten minutes.

Over 527 survivors have to live with the tragedy everyday 

Only ten minutes.

The smell of gunfire forever stuck in people's noses

Only ten minutes long.

On the 32nd floor you begin with 1,000 rounds of ammunition 

Only ten minutes.

The police placing their own life to take down this monster

Only ten minutes.

This attacker created the deadliest mass shooting in History 

Now everywhere Americans go, we have the fear in the back of our heads

Will I be the next person?

Only ten minutes long.

Definition Poem: Isolation

Isolation [ ahy-suh-ley-shun-n] noun, isolate

Solitude, segregation, resolution 

I hide from the blacked out room

When sickness overfills my entire body

Paranoia fills my head with diseases

Disintegrate from the outside world  

Others not wanting to be in quarantine

Disgust fills the air 

Schools, events all gone in seconds 

All alone with darkness surrounding me and germs through the air 

Definition Poem: Isolation

Isolation is a poem describing the unfortunate events going on with the world. There is a new type of loneliness going on, not just isolation from strangers but from your own grandparents. I tried to use hyperbole to make the effect of isolation seem more serious. There is also details provided in the poem where other people in the world could relate. Teens and adults can both relate/understand.

Limerick Poem: Magical Mermaid

Magical mermaid is based off of a "perfect mermaid" but in reality it is anything but perfect. I used the character as a mermaid because, mermaids are based off of Disney movies and beauty, while in real life they are monstrous creatures. A lot of people are portrayed as mermaids, such as actors and singers. I used alliteration since it was a shorter poem, and tried to rhyme as much as possible.

There was a princess in the deep sea

Who was mystic when told to be.

Her friends disliked her, 

Pure jealousy,

No friends needed when you have yourself. 

Ode to: Summer!

OH SUMMER!

You fill me overwhelming joy

The excitement of my birthday

The hot days, jumping into the pool

The ice cream liquefying in my hand in seconds

Soaking up the burn from the treacherous sun beating on me

 Surrounded with the people who mean the most to me

The sky being more blue then the ocean

The days longer and longer each day

Oh summer how much you mean to me
