Sonia Sotomayor was born June 25, 1954. She is 65 years old. Sonia was born in Bronx, New York.

Sonia is the oldest child. Sonia was born to two Puerto Rican parents. Her mother was a nurse and her father was a handy man.

Sonia graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School in Bronx, New York in 1972. Sonia was accepted into Princeton University.

In 1976 Sonia graduated from Princeton. When she graduated she was awarded the Pyne Prize. It is the highest academic award given to Princeton students.

After Sonia graduated from Princeton University with her Bachelors degree, she was accepted into Yale Law School.

While at Yale Law School, Sonia was an editor for the Yale Law Journal before completing her law degree.

In 1979, Sonia earned her Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School. Soon after graduating Sonia passed the Bar Exam.

For five years, Sonia was an assistant district attorney in the New York County Disctrict Attorney's office.

In 1984, Sonia decided to go into private practice with a commercial litigation firm where she was an associate. In 1988 she became a partner of the firm.
