For Professor Stansell, Clemson University

The students in Mr. Roberts 5th grade class were finishing their lesson how how to do research.
Each student had their school-provided iPad and were getting started on looking for a topic!
Mr. Roberts began to tell his students that on Monday they would be taking a field trip to the library!

Louise was excited to get started on her research paper about endangered species, she knew right away that she wanted to learn about the tiger!

Louise spent the weekend on her iPad looking at photos of tigers and searching every website she could find.

On Sunday morning her parents came into Louise's room and told her she had to go play outside. She had been glued to her iPad all weekend!
Louise hung her head and went to her swing set. She did not understand why it was such a big deal that she was using her iPad, after all she was doing homework.

When Louise got to school on Monday morning she was so excited to tell Mr. Roberts about all the research she had done that weekend!
Louise told her teacher about a website she found called "safethetiiiigers.com". She told him about all the information it had and showed him the homepage with the title, "hOwe YOUu can help the ttigers in you're areea 2day!".
Mr. Roberts gave Louise a concerned look.

hOwe YOUu can help the ttigers in you're areea 2day!

Louise! I'm so glad you did research this weekend, but this website doesn't seem very credible. See all of the typos and misspellings that it has?
What does "credible" mean, Mr. Roberts?

When a source is credible it means that the information is good and the research is done by experts. There are a few simple ways to tell if a source is reliable or not.
