Relationship between Emotion and
Time Perception among Postgraduates
in Faculty of Educational Studies UPM
ABSTRACT:
Studies on variables influencing the subjective perception of time fluctuation have suggested that this type of judgment is affected by our emotions. Internal clock model has been used in this study to examine the effect of emotion towards time perception among the postgraduate in Faculty of Educational Studies at UPM. A simple random sampling of 30 participants completed the study that lasted for five consecutive days. Data were collected using self-reported questionnaires via Google Forms and analyzed using Spearman Correlation Test via SPSS. Results of the various emotions affecting time perception are presented and discussed.
INTRODUCTION
Problem Statement:
Internal clock model has been used in many western countries to understand the distinction in time perception but can it be used in the Malaysian context.
Objective:
To examine the relationship between emotion and time perception among postgraduate in Faculty of Educational Studies, UPM.
Research Questions:
Is there any significant relationship between:
i) negative emotion and time perception?
ii) positive emotion and time perception?
iii) others feelings and time perception?
Part 1 Self-report Questionnaires:

2.Beck-Depression Inventory II (BDI-II)
3.Brief Penn State Worry Questionnaires (bPSWQ)
4.Brief Ruminative Response Scale (bRRS)
Part 2 Self-report Questionnaires:
-to survey on time perception & emotion
Three Emotion Categories involved:-
a) Positive - Happy, Excited, Alert, Active
b) Negative - Sad, Frustrated, Angry, Anxious
c) Others - Worry, Rumination,
Mind wandering, Attention
