To all the kids who feel left out.

Dilly was a diamond. She lived in Shineville with dozens of other jewels, but Dilly wasn't like the other. She had a crack in her that made her shine different.

Dilly wanted to fit in with the other jewels but they all laughed and teased her for her crack. This made Dilly sad.

During recess Dilly was doing what she usually did. Playing by herself. When suddenly there was a shadow cast over her. She looked up to see a red shimmering garnet standing in front of her.

Hi I'm Gracie!
Hi. I'm Dilly.

"What's wrong," asked Gracie
"I'm just surprised you are talking to me. That's all." Said Dilly.

"Of course I'm talking to you," Gracie said. "Why wouldn't I talk to you?"
"Because I'm not like the other jewels around here", says Dilly sadly.

"What do you mean you aren't like other jewels?" Gracie asked.
"Well I have a crack in me. This makes my shine splinter instead of just being a bright light," Dilly explained.

"Well we all shine differently." Gracie said firmly.
"What do you mean," Dilly asked confused.

"Look at me for example. My shine is red instead of clear like other people." Gracie exclaimed excitedly.

"What are you so excited about" Dilly asked confused.
"Dilly! Your crack is causing a rainbow to shine through you!" Gracie said jumping up and down excitedly.

Dilly was confused. She had never noticed a rainbow shining through her before.
