It was a normal day of school, for Casey and her younger brother Max. Things were going great for them as they walked through the school hallways, but when they reached the class it was a different story.
"Your clothes are ugly" said Anne as she approached her. To this all Casey could do was lower her head and go sit at the back of the class.

During lunchtime while everyone else had full meals to eat. Casey and Max had to share a rather small chocolate bar between the two of them. They did nothing as Anne continued making fun of them for their clothes and food. "Why are people so mean" asked Max. To this all Casey had to say was "because they don't know us" those words echoed in her head as the day went on.

After a long day at school they made it home where Casey and Max's father was making dinner for them. Casey sat down at the dinner table, she knew he was having financial problems to keep the house and education for his kids. Their mother had died a few years ago when Max was only a newborn. He is a very hardworking man and seeing his kids upset broke his heart.

Casey knew this and didn´t want to upset her father more than he already was so she never told him what really had been happening at school. "How was your day at school?" He asked as he served the food. Tuna casserole, her favorite. "It was good" she said. Of course she didn't actually tell him what was happening and what had been happening for the last months or so.

Over the next few weeks nothing had changed, school was the same, home was the same. Until one day Casey and Max came home to find the cops and paramedics rushing inside the house with some very heartbreaking news...

A lot had happened since that day. For starters Casey's dad had sadly passed away from a stroke. As for her and her little brother, well he was given up for adoption because of his young age. Casey on the other hand had just turned 16 and inherited the little things her father left her with. Though she wasn't an adult yet, the authorities allowed her to live by herself. And now she was laying on her bed thinking about everything that had happened.
