This book is dedicated to my future first grade students. I hope that this book teaches them about the different unique and wonderful fish and sea animals that live in our oceans.

Hi everyone, my name is Daisy! I am going to teach you about the ocean where I live and who knows, maybe we will even run into a few of my friends along the way?

You are going to learn so many fun and interesting facts about some of the unique sea animals that live in the ocean with me. Sea animals come in all different colors, shapes, and sizes.
Are you ready to start exploring with me?! Well then, Let's Go!

Look, here comes a group of small fish! Notice how they are traveling as one large group. This is because fish travel in what are called schools.

There are many different kinds of fish like those you just saw. In fact, the ocean has about 20 thousand different kinds of fish. That's alot of fish, isn't it?!
Are you ready to see what other kinds of fish and sea animals we can find?

Woah look at all of those seahorses! Can you see how they are hiding in the coral and the seaweed down below? This is because they like to grab onto it so they can catch small fish to eat. Pretty cool, huh?

Now let's see what else we can find!
Seahorses are found all over this ocean. Another cool fact about seahorses is that they only have one fin on their backs called a dorsal fin which allows them to swim around just like other fish do.

Here come a family of sea turtles! Do you see their large shells on their backs? These shells allow them to hide from their predators. How cool is that?!

Turtles are one of many sea animals that live in this ocean. Did you know that sea turtles can live up to the age of 100? That's about the same age that humans can live to!
Now let's head over to the coral reef and see what other sea animals we can find!

Look there are some crabs down below. Do you see those pointy things on the ends of their arms? Those are called claws or pincers. They use these to catch food or break open shells. Be careful, their claws are very sharp!

Crabs are one of many sea animals that are found in these coral reefs. They have trouble swimming so they like to walk across the reef to be able to move through the water easier. Crabs have to walk sideways because their legs are on the sides of their body. Can you imagine walking sideways all day?
Let's see what else we can find in the coral reef!

Hey look everyone, it's my friend Oliver the octopus! Fun Fact: Did you know that an octopus has 8 arms?
"Hi Daisy!"

Octopuses are often found in coral reefs, caves, holes and in small tight spaces where they can hide. They like to blend in with their surroundings to hide from predators. It's very hard to spot an octopus when it's hiding.
Let's see who else is in the coral reef!
