It was a cold and dreary Tuesday morning. It rained all night and looked like it would keep raining all day. Alyssa lived at home with her mom and her dog Tito. Alyssa played soccer and was really excited because today was her first soccer game.

Alyssa felt sad when she looked outside and saw the weather.

"Oh no! Now I won't be able to play my first soccer game!" Today is going to be the worst day ever!"

Alyssa joined her mom in the kitchen for breakfast. Mom could tell Alyssa was sad. "What's wrong, Alyssa?"

"It's raining out. Now there isn't going to be a soccer game. I DON"T LIKE RAIN!"

Her mom was shocked to hear her talk like this, she needed to cheer Alyssa up.

"It's okay, Alyssa. It is supposed to stop raining before your game today."

"It is?"

"Yes, it is."

"Thank you for making me feel better mommy!", Alyssa said with hope.

"Now finish your breakfast, so Tito and I can walk you to the bus stop."

Alyssa finished her breakfast and got ready to go to the bus stop.

Alyssa walked to the bus stop with her mom and Tito. It was raining heavily, so they took an umbrella. On the way to the bus stop, a car drove by and splashed the area they were walking in. Alyssa's feet got soaked inside her shoes. She became sad all over again.

"Oh, now my feet are all wet in my shoes! This day just keeps getting worse!" Alyssa shouted.

The bus finally came. Alyssa was still sad about her feet being wet, but she was happy that she would get on the bus where it was nice and dry.

"Bye, mommy, I love you!" Alyssa shouted as she entered the bus.

"I love you too dear!" shouted her mom. "Keep your chin up, today will get better!"

Alyssa got off the school bus and walked into the building. She was sad that her feet were still wet and the rain showed no signs of stopping.

"This day can't get any worse." she thought to herself.

Just then, the school bell rang.

"Oh great! Now I'm late too?" she said.

Other students pushed past her in a hurry to get to class. 

"I should have just stayed in bed today." she thought to herself.

Alyssa made it to her class and sat quietly in her seat with her head down.
