Technology has several negative impacts on literacy. It causes time management problems, an increase of poor grammar and spelling, difficulty focusing, and a decrease in critical thinking.

I remember I started using computers in kindergarten. We would line up single file and walk to the computer lab and sit in our assigned seats. Then we would open up the programs on the computer and start learning how to type out letters and numbers. After we spent about half of the class period doing that, we would be allowed to play games on the computer. This was always my favorite time of the day!

I think that our teachers started teaching us how to use computers at such a young age because our world was just starting to become technology dependent world. We were the first generation born with cell phones and it was important for us to be able to know how to use technology at a young age. We were the turning point for our generation because now almost everything can be completed online.

My parents got me my first phone when I was in seventh grade. At the time I was so caught up in my phone that I was putting off homework and spending way too much time on social media.

This not only affected my grades but also my ability to manage my time well. I would always put off doing homework until the last minute because I was stuck on Netflix binging a show I just couldn't stop. It was not until I started high school where I eventually stopped putting off work and prioritized my grades before free time.

Although technology has several great uses, it has negatively impacted children's as well as adults ability to complete tasks without loosing focus or worrying about replying to a text message. Our society has become a technology reliant world and will only become more dependent on new technologies as they are created.
