A track is made up of 400 meters that include 2 curves and 2 straight aways all measuring a 100 yards.

Discus is a type of field event in that includes a somewhat flat disc that is thrown and measured to see how far it went. You compete against others to see who threw it the furthest and that is how it is scored.

is for explosion

Explosion needs happen coming out of the blocks so the athlete does not get behind from a bad start.

is for field

Track and field is mainly an outside sport in high school so when the athletes are warming up before practice they can use the turf to get their stretches in.

is for gear

Track uniforms and proper shoes are important in track to stay safe and perform to the best of their ability.

is for hurdles

Hurdles are a type of race that includes the runner to jump over the object and cross the finish line. There are 2 races that include hurdles, the 100m, and the 300m.

is for jumping

In track and field there are many events that include jumping, such as, high jump, long jump, and triple jump.

is for interval training

Interval training is when are fast running segments of 100meters that go all the way up to 400 meters. The coach gets to decide how. many intervals they run.

is for kicks

To warm up before a race or practice, most teams will do A kicks and B kicks. These are just different exercises that get the muscles ready to run or jump.

is for lanes

During a race, each athlete has to stay in their own lane when running or they will be disqualified.

is for medal

Depending upon how well an athlete does in either a race or field event, they will receive a medal. Which is either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place.

is for nuts

During a track meet, there needs to be snacks for the kids to munch on because they will be outside all day and losing nutrients after their events and nuts are a good choice of protein.

is for outdoors

Track and field is an outdoor and indoor sport, but at the high school level, most races, events, and practices are outdoors.

is for pace

When running a long race, you have to pace yourself so you do not use all your engird and die out before the race is over.
