When Jack finally reached the sixth grade, he was very excited to join band.

"Thank you for coming to listen to me!"

He always dreamed of performing for an audience one day.

Mr. Rodriguez was the band director at Jack's school.

Mr. Rodriguez saw Jack's excitement for music. He knew trumpet was the instrument for him. 

Once Jack got a trumpet, he practiced day and night!

He loved playing so much that he would even go to bed with his trumpet!

One day, Mr. Rodriguez told Jack about an audition for the region band.  

You should audition!

An audition is when you play your trumpet for a judge, and they rank you against the other players. 

Jack went home and told his parents. He asked them what an audition was, and they told him.
