It was a warm spring day. Allie ran into the forest to look for some fresh flowers for her Mom. As she stood and picked the flowers, she thought she heard something. She stopped and looked around but she didn’t see anyone. There were just lots of tall trees, grass and tulips everywhere, tulips were her Mom’s favorite flower. Allie finished picking flowers and ran home to give them to her Mom. What she didn’t know that something was watching her.
It was a baby fox. She was scared and all alone. She tried to follow Allie but couldn’t keep up, so she found a nice small hidden spot in the woods to hide. The baby fox knew that night was when all the scary sounds and animals come out. She knew she would be safe in the woods.

As day turned to night the large forest started to make sounds. The baby fox heard a loud “who who”, so she crawled deeper into her hole. The crickets started to chirp, and the frogs started to croak. The baby fox quickly became frightened. Finally, after an hour or so the baby fox fell asleep.

It was time for Allie to go to bed. It was a difficult time because she got scared when all the lights were out. The sounds of the forest were what helped her sleep at night. After saying her prayers and getting tucked into bed Allie just sat and stared out of the window. She wished for a friend. After a few short minutes, Allie was asleep.
As the sun rose on a new day Allie woke up. Immediately she begged her Mom to let her go outside to play. After a delicious breakfast of eggs and toast her Mom hesitated, but with the promise that she would drink her milk she could go play. Down went the glass of milk. Quickly Allie ran out the door and on the hunt to chase butterflies with her net. She needed some for her fairy garden.
Meanwhile the baby fox started to wake up. It had been a long night. She would drift off to sleep only to be woken by all the scary sounds in the forest. She heard Allie laughing as she chased the butterflies. What was that strange sound? She followed the sound to see what was going on.

As she peeked through the fern bush she saw what had made that strange sound. There stood a blondish brown haired, blue eyed little girl. When she crept closer she stepped on a twig and it snapped and Allie looked up. There was a cute, little scared baby fox. When Allie moved forward the fox started to run back into the forest. Allie stopped as she got to the edge of the forest she remembered that she wasn't allowed to go in there without her Mom’s permission.
