I would like to dedicate this book to my Junior classmates because I miss them so so much and I can't wait to be able to safely attend school again.

Many people come to the United States looking for a new place to live.
It is a place where many believe they can better their lives, and the futures of their children.
However, not everyone in the United States is welcoming to these people looking for a better life.

On June 15, 2012, Janet Napolitano, a Secretary of Homeland Security, created a written document containing the terms of DACA, and from there, DACA was set in place in the United States. Though DACA was created to protect immigrant children, it benefits people of all ages.

For people who wanted to apply for DACA, there are some requirements they needed to meet such as:
- Arrive in the US before their 16th birthday
- Be under the age of 31 as of June 15, 2012
- Be a resident in the US since June 15, 2007
- Be in the US by June 15, 2012, as well as when they submit their request for approval
- Not a citizen of the US and/or not under any other immigration programs
- Be in school, graduated from school, or a former member of the Armed Forces of the US
- Have not committed any serious crimes
(They do not need to meet every requirement as these are just options to help more people be able to apply.)

By June of 2016, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services approved 844,931 DACA applications! This allowed many immigrants to begin a new life in the United States, and continue to work and attend school here in the U.S.
Most people who applied for DACA were coming into the US from Mexico.
