The best dog training treats are "people food" such as chicken, string cheese, cut uncooked hotdogs, and any dog treats found in your local pet store!

Chapter Two: Teaching Sit
Step 1: Hold the treat over your dog's head.

Step 2: Tell your dog to "sit" one time and wait for your dog's bottom to touch the ground!

Step 3: Once the exercise is completed, click the training clicker one time.

Step 4: Reward your dog with the treat.
Step 5: Praise your dog by telling him or her "good boy" or "good girl!"
Step 6: Repeat until your dog sits or downs quickly.




Chapter Three: Teaching Lay Down
Step 2: Place the treat in the palm of your closed hand.
Step 1: Ask your dog to sit.
Step 5: Reward your dog with the treat.
Step 6: Praise your dog by telling him or her "good boy" or "good girl!"
Step 7: Repeat until your dog lays down quickly.
Step 3: Tell your dog "down" and place your closed hand between your dog's front legs and wait until they lay down!
Step 4: Once the exercise is complete, click the training clicker one time.



Chapter Four: Teaching Stay
Step 3: Take one step back towards your dog.
Step 4: Once the exercise is complete, click the training clicker one time.
Step 1: Ask your dog to sit.
Step 2: Tell your dog to "stay", take one step away, and count to five in your head!



Step 5: Reward your dog with the treat.
Step 6: Praise your dog by telling him or her "good boy" or "good girl!"
Step 7: Repeat until your dog can stay for a count of 30.
Step 8: Increase the distance to two steps back and repeat steps one through seven.
