Hi, my name is Veronica! I’m from Austin, Texas. My dad just got a new job as an accountant and says we need to leave Texas. 

My mom, dad, my brother Joe and I are moving to New York City! 

 I’m going to miss my friends soooo much! I’m scared I won’t make any friends when I go to New York.

I’m especially going to miss my friend Gabby who has been my friend since Pre-k.

Veronica says, “What if I don’t make new friends?”

Dad says, “Veronica you will make so many new friends.”

Ahh... Today is the day we’re moving… I’m going to miss my house… Bye house, bye friends, bye neighbors!

I’m on an airplane! The clouds are so fluffy, and the sky is so blue! My brother Joe said were really high up!

We finally arrived in New York City! It’s so big and there are so many people! My mom and dad hold my hand tightly, so I don’t get lost in the crowds.

We get into a yellow taxi with all of our luggage! We’re moving to a big apartment somewhere near…

 “MOM what’s the huge building we are living by? Veronica asks. 

Mom says, “The Empire State Building.” 

We’re finally here!! I miss Texas but this apartment is so big! My room is right next to Joe.

  The view from my window I see so many buildings; it’s definitely different than Texas.

Mom says, “Veronica we got pizza for dinner, come to the table.” Veronica says, “Ok mom I’m coming.” I love pizza!!

Well, a week came quick! Mom said “Veronica come eat breakfast, you’re going to be late for your first day of school.”

“I’m nervous,” says Veronica.

“It’s normal to be scared on your first day of school in a new place,  with new people but you will love it” says mom. 

Here’s your new school Veronica, says Mom. I’ll walk you up to your classroom and meet your teacher Ms. Marcos.

Hi, Ms. Marcos, this is my daughter Veronica! Hi Veronica, my name is Ms. Marcos; you’re going to love 3 grade.

Daniella says “Hi, my name is Daniella, what’s your name?......My name is Veronica. 

I just moved here from Texas. Daniella says "oooo I never went to Texas; I've lived in New York City my whole life!" 

Veronica says, “I live near the Empire State Building, where do you live?”

Daniella says “I live near the Empire State Building too! There’s a lot of fun activities to do here!”

Ms. Marcos  says “Students I would like for you to write three things about yourselves such as “favorite singer, favorite food, and one thing you did over the summer."

Veronica writes down "My favorite singer is Selena Gomez; my favorite food is grilled cheese and I moved from Texas to New York."  

Ms. Marcos then says "Who would like to share?"

Daniella raises her hand and says “My favorite singer is Selena Gomez; I love grilled cheese and I went on a cruise during the summer! 

Veronica replies “I love Selena Gomez and grilled cheese!”

After the first day of school, Veronica was so excited to have a friend and told her parents all about her new friend Daniella. Veronica even explains how Daniella and her want to go on an “adventure” after school on Friday.
