Different types of clouds tell us different different things about the weather.
Let's look at some different types of clouds.
Cumulus Clouds
Cumulus clouds are white and fluffy, like balls of cotton wool.
They indicate that the weather is pleasant. Cumulus clouds do not tend to produce heavy rain.
Cirrus Clouds
Cirrus clouds look like wispy pieces of fluff or light paintbrush strokes. They are normally white.
Cirrus Clouds are the highest form of cloud and predict pleasant weather.
Stratus Clouds
Stratus clouds are low in the sky and are one of the most common types of cloud in Ireland.
They can be white or dark grey, or anywhere in between. They look like thin bankets covering the sky!
