Numerator and Denominator of a fraction 

In a fraction , the number on the top is called Numerator . 

The number at the bottom is called 

Denominator .

  Numerator      -    Number of selected parts

  Denominator  -    Number of equal parts in all        

EXAMPLE - see on slide -6

Write fraction of green and white parts in the given figure.

Number of green part = 1

Number of equal parts in all = 4

                                                               1 

ANS. Fraction of the green part  =   4
