A long time ago in a little town, there lived a tiny girl who was horrified by snakes. The town they lived in happened to have quite a bit of snakes, but there was one snake that everyone was scared of. This snake was twenty feet long and had sharp teeth. Everyone feared this snake.

One day the girl, Megan, was going for a walk. She went down the road and met her friend at his house.
“Hey Megan!” her friend exclaimed.
“Hey Charlie,” Megan replied.

They start walking farther down the road into the forest. When they got to the forest they started playing. They weren’t thinking about what else could be in the forest with them.
“Let’s go deeper into the forest!” Charlie said.
As they went farther into the forest, the sun started to set. The kids felt a little bit scared, but decided to continue because they weren’t too worried about anything. There was a rustling sound in the leaves, and they looked at each other.

“Did you hear that?” asked Megan.
“Yes we better go!” Charlie replied.

They ran out of the forest as quickly as they could. Once they got back to Charlie’s house, they went inside.
“I wonder what that was,” Megan said.
“Maybe it was the big scary snake!” yelled Charlie.
“Stop messing around,” she started, “because you know I’m terrified of snakes.”
“Oh you’re fine. It was probably just a mouse or something,” Charlie commented.

The kids sat down, and started eating a snack. They asked Charlie’s mom if she knew anything about the snake. She told them a little story about when she was a little kid. She was in her garden when a snake appeared. It lunged at her and bit her. She ran away as fast as she could and never came back to the garden. Charlie was determined that he was going to find that snake. Megan did not want to go though.

“Megan you have to go with me,” Charlie grinned.
“I am not going to! I hate snakes!” she huffed.
“This might help you get over your silly fear of snakes.”
“No it won’t,” Megan replied, “because I have always been scared of snakes.”
“This might help though! If you see it and realize it’s nice, then you’ll get over your fear,” Charlie proclaimed.
“Maybe you’re right. If I see the snake, and it’s nice then I won’t be scared. What if it’s mean though? Everyone says it’s mean, and I don’t want to get bit,” Megan replied.
“We will run away before it has a chance to bite you!” he promised.
