Rocky was an igneous rock that lived with his family in the center of the Earth. He and his family had been formed by the magma inside Earth's interior cooling down. Rocky loved his wife, Roxy, and kids with all his little rock heart. His dream was to become a metamorphic rock, formed from heat and pressure.

Rocky and his family were pushed upward by rising magma under them. They came into a narrow passage, they were in a volcano! Rocky was worried for his family, but at least they were all still here and all still igneous rocks. The kids were even having fun. He wondered if this was going to be his chance to get to be a metamorphic rock, but he didn't want to leave his family.

Suddenly, Rocky slipped on some other igneous rocks and fell off the volcano! His family was still stuck on top of the volcano as Rocky tumbled down the side of it. He finally settled on the soil and began to cry. He already missed his wife and kids.

Rocky and other rocks around him were broken down by wind and rain. He was weathered down so much that he turned into sediment, like little crumbs of rocks! He went from an igneous rock to sand by being broken down to bits. Rocky was tired and longed for his family.

Many years later, Rocky became a sedimentary rock. His sediments from before were crushed with pressure and over time, they compacted to form a sedimentary rock. Layers of dirt and rocks formed over him and he was pushed down further and further, until he was back into the center of the Earth! Maybe he would be able to connect with his family again and get another shot at his dream rock.
