On October 28, 1955 a little boy was born in the Swedish Hospital in Seattle, Washington. The little boy was the son of William and Mary Gates. They named him after his father, William Henry Gates III.

Bill was a very smart student and did well in school, but he got bored often and resorted to causing trouble. To fight this bad habit Bill's parents got him involved with outdoor activities. Bill eventually got involved with Boy Scouts which kept him preoccupied for several years on end.

When Bill turned 13 his parents sent him to a new school called the Lakeside Preparatory School. They sent him to this new school in an attempt to challenge him more as he was excelling in his classes at his previous school.

As Bill continued through his journey in Boy Scouts he eventually was able to reach one of the highest ranks which was Life Scout. Through this journey Bill was able to learn important things that he kept throughout his whole life.

As Bill continued to go to his new school he got interested in computers. Computers when Bill was growing up were huge and only a few companies owned them, so when his school bought time on one Bill was extremely interested.

Bill spent a lot of time working on the computer and really getting to understand how it all worked. His first ever code he wrote in the computer made a Tic Tac Toe game.

With this new fascination of computers Bill and his new friend Paul Allen actually started their own business while they were still in school. Their new business was a new computer program Bill and Paul wrote to track traffic patterns in Seattle.

At one point Bill and his friends actually hacked the computer they used with their school to allow for more time on the computer. Following this they got in trouble and weren't allowed to use the computer for a long time.

This little break from the computer didn't stop Bill from his fascination though, whenever Bill was able to use the computer he did. He kept this fascination of computers for a long time and continued learning more and more about them.

After high school Bill was able to get into Harvard, one of the most prestigious schools in all of the United States. Going against his original ambitions he went to Harvard for law and wasn't very interested.

After two years at Harvard Bill dropped out of college to pursue his true passion of computers and began his business, Microsoft. His parents were very upset that he dropped out of college but as the loving parents they were they supported him the entire time.
