"The only thing evil can't stand is forgiveness"
- Mister Fred Rogers

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, it's a beautiful day for a neighbor!
Would you be mine? Could you be mine?
For many people across America, these words are a reminder of a wonderful show called Mister Rogers' Neighborhood!
You may be wondering, "What is Mister Rogers' Neighborhood? Who is Mister Rogers?"
Mister Fred Rogers was a kind man who spread his messages of positivity through his T.V. show, Miser Rogers' neighborhood!
Always wearing a sweater, Mister Rogers would greet his viewers with a smile and a song.
He would teach children important lessons on his show like it's okay to feel sad and if you take a bath, you won't go down the drain.
He was making a difference in the lives of many kids. He taught them how to manage their feelings and how to be compassionate. He made many people feel loved and cared for.
Mister Rogers had many friends that helped him teach these lessons, friends like Daniel Tiger!
Daniel is a little shy, but deep down, he is full of courage!
Mister Rogers had many other friends too! There was Mr. McFeeley, the speedy delivery man.
We can't forget about the smart Owl X!
Mister Rogers' show was aired on the PBS channel from 1968 to 2001, but there was a time when it almost wasn't!
In 1969, funding for the PBS channel and many more like it was going to be cut by a lot!
If there was no money, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood couldn't be produced anymore! Oh no!
Mister Rogers knew that his show would be shut down if he didn't do something...
but what could he do?
Mister Rogers decided he would have to go right to the source of the problem.
On May 1st, 1969, Mister Rogers sat in a court to speak to the U.S. Senate Subcommittee of Communication about why they shouldn't cut funding for his show.
Mister Rogers knew exactly what he was going to say. In court, all he had to do was hope that the Subcommittee would understand his concerns.
Subcommittee Chairman, Senator John Pastore took one look at Mister Rogers and began to judge him without hearing what he had to say.
