Table design is very important for us (at home or outside). We pay close attention to the concept. Appropriate plates and napkins are used. Usually turkey or chicken is cooked. We have a special stuffed rice and the turkeys are filled with this chestnut stuffed rice. We definitely have olive oil appetizers. We prepare cheese plates and most importantly we make cookies. During Christmas, Romanians bake various special dishes, including desserts and sweets. Romanians most usually bake Cozonac(spongecake), made of flour, yolks, yeast and many other ingredients, flavors, condiments and additions. You can fill the sponge cake with walnuts, cocoa, raisins, Turkish delight and in Transylvania: poppy seed paste (cozonac cu mac). Plates of small pastries and cakes are prepared in advance to serve to carollers when they call.
