I'm suddenly in a bad movie,
it goes on and on and
why am I fascinated
We waltz in slow motion
through an air stale with aphorisms
we meet behind the endless ptted palms
you climb through the wrong windows
Other people are leaving
but I always stay till the end
I paid my money, I
want to see what happens.
In chance bathtubs I have to
peel you off me
in the form of smoke and melted
celluloid
Have to face it I'm
finally an addict,
the smell of popcorn and worn plush
lingers for weeks
your hair upon the pillow like a sleepy golden storm,
yes, many loved before us, I know that we are not new,
in city and in forest they smiled like me and you,
but now it's come to distances and both of us must try,
your eyes are soft with sorrow,
Hey, that's no way to say goodbye.
I'm not looking for another as I wander in my time,
walk me to the corner, our steps will always rhyme
you know my love goes with you as your love stays with me,
it's just the way it changes, like the shoreline and the sea,
but let's not talk of love or chains and things we can't
untie,
your eyes are soft with sorrow,
Hey, that's no way to say goodbye.
I loved you in the morning, our kisses deep and warm,
your hair upon the pillow like a sleepy golden storm,
yes many loved before us, I know that we are not new,
in city and in forest they smiled like me and you,
but let's not talk of love or chains and things we can't
untie,
your eyes are soft with sorrow,
Hey, that's no way to say goodbye.
“You can shed the past. You can’t shake it. But you certainly get new skin. You can grow and become stronger.” – Lesra Martin, lawyer
“To me, the fundamental tales of life are: do good, do the best you can and reach for the stars sometimes.” – Valerie Pringle, journalist
Cucumbers hide
in a leafy camouflage,
popping out
when you lease expect
like flashers in the park.
The truth is,
they all have an anal
fixation. Watch it
when you bend to pick them.
Poem by: Lorna Crozier
“There’s nothing worse than things happening to you that you’ve planned. You want something that completely comes from the side to surprise you.” – Robert Lepage, playwright
'Why keep a cow when I can buy,'
Said he, 'the milk I need,'
I wanted to spit in his eye
Of selfishness and greed;
But did not, for the reason he
Was stronger than I be.
I told him: ''Tis our human fate,
For better or for worse,
That man and maid should love and mate,
And little children nurse.
Of course, if you are less than man
You can't do what we can.
'So many loving maids would wed,
And wondrous mothers be.'
'I'll buy the love I want,' he said,
'No squally brats for me.'
. . . I hope the devil stoketh well
For him a special hell.
how hard my loyal sentinel has been working
to shield that tender place
the Heart who palpitates
so . . . so . . . so . . . so
stuttering agitated scarred
by the slightest signs
of betrayal
the needle enters Pericardium 8 on my left palm
the earth of knowing disappears
explodes in a rush of pain and tears
she keeps me company while I weep
I’m sorry to cause you pain, she says
she would have removed that needle
had I found it intolerable
but I ask for the second needle
in my right palm
these weapons of liberation
shock the palace guard
with a relief from duty
now I can be exhausted
enter a sleep of countless lifetimes
pinned down at the palms
