Bella and Willa galloped across the sunflower field as an eerie breeze blew past them. They were on their way to Horse Haven to see Mrs.Dawn. As they rode on their horses, Sugar and Spice, they decided to take a short cut. While cantering down the path, they noticed a hoove print that was ghost-like.

While dismounting their horses, they noticed a dark shadow lurking in the trees. As the girls slowly and carefully stepped toward the shadow, their horses bolted toward the meadow. "Sugar!" Bella shouted motioning the horse to come forward. "Spice!" Willa exclaimed her voice quavering. But the horses didn't listen. It was as if they were under a spell.

By the time their focus came back to the shadow, it was gone. "Let's walk back to the stable Willa. We don't really have a choice," Bella announced, hesitantly walking toward Horse Haven, still worried about her horse. "But, our horses. We need to find them!" Willa exclaimed. When the two girls came to an agreement, they both started sprinting back to Horse Haven.

Panting furiously, Willa and Bella exclaimed loudly, "Mrs.Dawn!"  As Mrs. Dawn made her way to the girls, she calmly said in her thick British accent, "What's wrong loves?" asking the girls while getting a chair to sit down. "Horses... ran...ghost horse print," Bella exclaimed breathlessly. Mrs. Dawn was silent for two long moments and opened her mouth,"The legend."

Willa and Bella confusingly looked at Mrs. Dawn, "The legend?" the girls asked. Mrs.Dawn slowly nodded her head," A long, long, time ago, there were phantom horses, ghost horses who could put spells on other horses." Mrs.Dawn paused hesitant to continue, "They were extinct a long time ago, but, they must of come back by a sorcerer, or a witch. These horses are dangerous. Don't go near them!"

As the girls paused still grasping the idea of phantom horses, Mrs.Dawn started again,"Every night at midnight, the horses cast a spell waiting for the horses to go mad." In shock, the girls looked at the clock. The clock read 10:00PM. "We only have two hours!" Bella and Willa exclaimed in terror, "We have to get John!"
