We've all seen pictures that look almost like the 

real manga. But those are based on the belief that 

all you need to do is give characters big eyes and 

crazy spiky hair. That, however, is not true. The 

only way to draw manga the right way is by 

putting each line exactly where it needs to be. This 

is a step by step process on how to draw a front 

view face of a manga character.

Start off with a circle.

The circle is only the base

of your head. It helps with 

the positioning. 

Then add 4 vertical lines inside the circle,all an 

equal distance from each other, with the top one in 

the center. These lines will help you with placing 

the eyes mouth nose etc. 

Make sure you get the angles

of the lines right. The lines 

coming off the circle should 

be slanted slightly, and the 

lines coming off of those

should be nowhere near as 

steep as the others, and

they should meet to make

the chin.

Now it's time to add the eyes. This is where you start 

using those lines you drew inside the circle. In 

between the bottom line and the one above it is where 

the eyes will go. Remember, there are many different 

types of eyes you can draw, so don't use the first ones 

that come to mind. Be creative! Then the eyebrows go 

about half an inch above the eye. They help show the 

character's emotion.
