Sarah is in 3rd grade. Sarah loves to help Mrs. K, the 3rd grade teacher, with classroom chores. Every day before the dismissal bell rings, Sarah wipes the keyboards of the classroom computers clean. She is very proud of that, and so is Mrs. K.

One Friday afternoon, Sarah was wiping the keyboards as usual when she noticed that one was missing eight letters. She stopped to take a closer look at it. Then, she realized it was missing most of the letters and a symbol from the HOME ROW keys!
The A S D F were gone, AND the J K L ; were also missing.
"Oh, No! How can anyone type without them?" she exclaimed. And so she marked the keyboard with green tape before she left for the weekend.

At home, while playing fetch ball with her dog Lorenzo, she kept thinking about the mystery of the missing letters from the HOME ROW keys. "How can they be gone without a trace?" she wondered. "I must solve this mystery!" she thought.

On Monday morning she asked Mrs. K if she could take another look at that keyboard with the missing letters. Mrs. K told her she could as soon as she finished her morning handwriting activity. So she did. You won't believe what happened next!
Once she got near that keyboard she heard a distant voice calling her to come closer. She looked around but saw no one.

"Where are you?" she said. The voice was coming from the keyboard!

"It's Me! BACKSPACE. I am the key who helps you erase stuff."
"Oh! Hi BACKSPACE!" Sarah spoke anxiously with a trembling voice. "I'm kind of glad you can talk, though! I guess you can probably help me figure out what happened with the missing letters from the HOME ROW keys," she said.
"I can help you with that," said the SPACEBAR. To Sarah's surprise, there was more than one key talking!! This was in fact a talking keyboard!
Then, SPACEBAR continued her narrative, "Some days ago I overheard A S D F talking to J K L ; about how no one needs them anymore. They said that kids only use touchscreens nowdays and that they hardly ever type. "

Then, ENTER key interrupted them and said, "I saw what happened!"
Welcoming ENTER key's account of the event, Sarah said, "Please, tell us ENTER key! We are all ears. Right SPACEBAR and BACKSPACE?" she asked. "Right!" they responded.

"Last Thursday, right after the keyboard was wiped clean and before school dismissal, I realized some parts of it were still wet. Then, I saw A S D F coming off one by one. They were followed by J K L and ;. They looked around and finding no one in sight they decided to jump off the keyboard towards the classroom windows. And that's all I saw," said ENTER key.
