Maria Salomea Skłodowska-Curie was born in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, being the fifth and last daughter of her family, where her two parents always instilled in her the value of learning.


Maria got excellent grades in school and graduated, but when it came time to continue her university education, she found that she was not allowed to enroll because she was a woman.

However, she worked her way together with her sister Bronislawa, and they entered Floating University, a clandestine university where they did admit female students.
Surviving mainly on bread and tea and even sometimes passing out from hunger, he was finally able to earn his degree in physics and mathematics.
After working as a governess and tutor, she saved a lot of money and was able to move to Paris where she changed her name to Marie and joined the Sorbonne University to continue her studies.

In Paris, Marie met Pierre Curie and because of their mutual love of science and good chemistry, they married, and together they had their laboratory to continue their research. Marie, being so curious, became interested in the discoveries of new types of radiation and decided to investigate them.
