Lightning can cause wildfires, structure 

fires, property damage and power outages.  

It typically occurs when warm air is mixed 

with colder air masses.

When lightning strikes, there will always be a 

thunder clap along with it.  

Blizzards are a combination of heavy 

snowfall, high winds and freezing 

temperature. These storms can make driving 

conditions very dangerous and can cause 

damages to homes, businesses and 

automobiles.

Tornadoes are rotating columns of air that 

come in contact with both the ground and 

cumulonimbus clouds.   They most commonly 

touch down in flat landed areas in the United 

States.   Tornadoes are also known as cyclones 

and twisters.

Hurricanes are one of the most dangerous 

and destructive storms on Earth.   They are 

categorized in 5 different stages.   Hurricanes 

are given a name that they refer to when 

talking about them on the news.
