Life was peaceful at one point. Americans were happy for the most part. But, the anger and greed of one man changed that all...

This man, who called himself the Depressor, had been tricking Americans for years to take out large loans, causing them to be in debt. After waiting until enough loans were taken out, the Depressor caused the Stock Market to crash in October of 1929, known as the Great Crash.

The Depressor continued his terror on the stock market. On a day known as Black Tuesday, the Depressor had caused Americans to sell over 16 million shares of stock. This caused deep dives on the stock market and the value of the industrial index dropped 10%.
On a day known as Black Thursday, the Depressor came and wiped out the comedian Groucho Marx and left him in deep debt. The Depressor showed that he would make even the richest fall.

The Depressor had succeeded in causing the Great Depression, the worst economic downturn in the history of the industrial world.

Herbert Hoover, the president from 1929-1939 did his best to fight back against the Depressor. Hoover tried to help Americans with rugged individualism. He did not believe in facing the Depressor head-on and tried to help Americans instead.

The Great Depression left many Americans in debt, and out of a job. Homeless Americans, called hoboes, traveled around the country looking for jobs. They created Hoovervilles or campgrounds named after Hoover, who they blamed for the Depression, to live in.

Many tenants at farms lost their jobs and farmers lost their farms.
