One Christmas eve in New York City, the streets were full of honking car horns, and people trying to get home or buy last-minute Christmas gifts. While far North to the North Pole, hidden under all the snow, was Santa Claus and his elves.
"Ho ho ho. I can't wait to deliver the presents to - Ah ah choo - 'sniff' all the kids," Santa Claus said with a sniff. ", Santa Claus, are you ok?" Jingles asked concerned. Jingles had long, smooth dark brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. "Why, of course, 'sniff' I don't get sick," Santa Claus said, sitting down on a big red chair that matched his clothes. "Well, there is this sickness going around the elves and you might have caught it. I don't have it but Christy, my sister had it. You might have caught it while you had that meeting with her" Jingles said. "Well, Christmas must go, 'sniff' on," Santa Claus said.
"Face it, you can't go out like this. I'll go and get the cure for you. It might not work for the elves but it might work for you" Jingles said. Santa considered it for a moment, he was holding back the urge to argue further but he finally gave in. "Fine, but don't take too long," He said as Jingles got the reindeer ready.
"Ok, Misses Claus. Come get Santa, he's sick" Jingles called. "Oh, dear. Come honey, we must get you into bed. I'll stir up a nice hot cocoa," Misses Claus said escorting Santa Claus down the hall. "Well, I do like your hot cocoa," Santa said as he walked to his room with Misses clause. Jingles got Rudolph together but she only used Rudolph because she was small and she was only planning to take a short trip. She got into the sleigh and took off into the sky. The sky was turning purple as Jingles rode on.
Suddenly out of nowhere the sky darkened and thunder crackled. "Um, Rudolph, I thought it was clear weather today," Jingles asked Rudolph, trying to recall what the weather elves had said that morning. "Neigh" Rudolph replied as they rode onwards.
It was getting darker by the minute and Jingles started worrying if they might not make it back in time. Suddenly lightning lit up the sky, and then a big BOOM!
"RUDOLPH! Get to the ground. NOW!" Jingles screamed over the rumbling thunder. Rudolph neighed in reply and started down to the ground. There was another crackle of lightning that hit the sleigh on the side, making it, Rudolph, and Jingles fall to the ground.
"Ugg, Rudolph? How long have I been out?" Jingles asked the reindeer as she sat up only to notice that Rudolph wasn't there. There was a rustle in the bushes behind her that made her jump. "Don't come any closer. I - I have a..." Jingles looked around for something to defend herself with. She looked all around her and then she looked down at her feet, but all she found was a large stick. She picked up the stick and held it at the ready to whack anyone who came near her.
The rustling became louder and louder by the second. "I'm warning you, stay back!" Jingles warned as she lifted her stick a bit higher. The rustling stopped but then out galloped Rudolph. "Rudolph!? I'm so happy you're ok. You almost just gave me a heart attack," Jingles said relieved to find him and not some kind of monster. Jingles lowered her stick and hugged Rudolph.
"I'm so glad I found you. Or, you found me I guess," Jingles said patting Rudolph's snout, smiling. Rudolph neighed in agreement, shoving his snout to her pouch. Jingles giggled and took out a juicy red apple that ahe handed to him, he ate it gleefully.
There was a rustle in the bush again, this time much closer. Rudolph neighed and ran to hide behind a tree. Jingles looked at Rudolph, then to her stick, then to the bush. She held her stick high in the air, ready to defend herself. "Brother, are you sure we're going the right way?" A voice asked from behind the bushes. "Well, how am I supposed to know? We are searching for Santa and the reindeer to see if they are real," another voice said.
"Don't come any closer, or - or - I'll whack you with my, um, powerful, um, weapon?" Jingles tried to say in her fiercest voice, even though she was sure that it came out more like a squeaky mouse. "Who's there," one of the voices asked. "I'm warning you. Stay back!" Jingles warned again. Out of the bush came 2 boys about the same age as Jingles (Jingles was about 12) and they were both staring at her."Hey, are you also looking for Santa and the elves? Because it sure looks like you're in the Christmas spirit," the first boy asked. He had whacky brown hair with chocolate brown eyes and he was almost as tall as Jingles. His brother, on the other hand, looked almost the same... Ok, they looked totally different. The second one had smooth blond hair and sky blue eyes and looked much more like a grown fancy nancy man, even though Jingles was sure he was only about 12. "And who are you?" The second boy asked, eyeing the stick in her hand.
"Um... Who are you?" Jingles asked, lowering her stick and crossing her arms in front of her chest. "I asked you fir-'' The second boy began but was cut off but his brother. "Oh, for noodle's sake -by the way, noodles are my favourite thing to eat-, Hi, I'm Leo, and this is my brother Liam. We come from a family with names all starting with L. My mom's name is Layla, my dad's name is Luke, my grandma's name is Lilac, my Grandpa's name is Landon, my aunt's name is-” Leo started but this time Jingles cut him off. "Ok, ok, I get it. They all start with L's. But my name is not important and I am on a very tight schedule," Jingles said turning around to leave. "Oh, hi not important. Are you also looking for Santa though, because we haven't been able to find him?" Leo asked, disappointed. “Um… why are you looking for him?” Jingles asked suspiciously. “Well, we want to see if he’s real,” Leo answered. “Well, I really have to be-” Jingles tried to explain but Loe gave a tiny squeal.
“Is that… Rudolph!?” Leo asked pointing to the reindeer that had stuck his head out of his hiding spot to see what was happening. Jingles glared at him and motioned for him to hide again, but apparently, Rudolph was too busy trying to escape from the squealing Leo. “Is that really him?” Liam asked, speaking for the first time. “Um, of course not,” Jingles said, catching up to Loe and grabbing him by the collar of his blue sweater. “Of course it’s him, look at his red glowing nose,” Leo explained, waving his arms at Rudolph. Jingles thought that it was really stupid to have brought Rudolph, if she had brought Prancer or Dancer, or Cupid, or Comet. If only she had thought about that because none of them had the glowing red nose. “Um...” Jingles tried to think of a good lie to tell. “Wait, are you even dressing up for Christmas or are you… No, it can't be… Are you, an elf?” Leo asked wide-eyed. “Um… Well… You see… Yes, I am an elf,” Jingles admitted looking down at her shoes.
