Annie was a little girl. She loved
playing with her family and having fun.

Annie had so much fun with her
mommy and daddy. Every day was a
new adventure. Annie thought her
world could never be more perfect.
She loved the way things were, and
she looked to the stars every night
asking that they would never
change.

But some very strange things...
Began to happen to Annie's mommy.

Annie's mommy didn't want to play anymore.
She stopped getting out of bed in the morning,
and she got mad at Annie a lot for things she
didn't even do. Annie's parents kept fighting a
lot, and Annie kept seeing her mommy cry all
the time.

Annie's mommy began to talk about bad
people who were coming after her one day.
"Daddy, what's wrong with mommy?", Annie
asked.
"Annie, mommy isn't feeling good right now."
"But why?"
Annie's father just looked away, a grave
expression on his face.

Annie tried so hard to figure out what had
happened to her mommy. She loved her so
much but it was like she wasn't there
anymore. It was like she was a completely
different person.

"Daddy, did mommy get taken over by an
alien?" Annie asked.
Annie's mommy had been to see the doctor a
lot lately, and it occurred to Annie that maybe
they were trying to get an alien out of her.
"No sweetie, mommy just has a cold that's
making her act strange.", replied Annie's
father.

Annie's watched her mommy bring home a
bottle of pills one day.
Soon Annie noticed her mommy was beginning
to act normal again.
Annie saw a booklet on the table and slowly
read the words on the cover aloud. "De-pres-
sion"

Annie took the booklet to her daddy and asked
him what it was and why mommy had brought
it home from the doctor with her.
"It's a sickness that your mommy has, but the
doctors made it all better.", Annie's dad
attempted to explain to her.

Annie smiled.
"So they really made mommy better?
Mommy's going to be okay now?"
"Yes Annie, mommy's all better now."
Annie's world seemed to be back to normal
now, and it felt like she had her mommy back
again.
