Love, Mama

This is Augusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace.

Ada, as she was known to her friends and family, was a very special woman.

Ada was known for helping build the first computer... ever! I'm sure you're thinking...computer? We have those everywhere! Why is she so important?

I didn't tell you when she was born! Ada, Countess of Lovelace was born in London, England on December 10, 1815! That was over 200 years ago! That was before the first lightbulb was ever invented!

Ada did not have an easy childhood growing up. Her parents divorced when she was little and her mother was not so nice to her.

When Ada started private tutoring, instead of school, her mother insisted that she learn math and science along with other subjects.

Ada had shown she had a talent for math at an early age. This was unusual, because most girls and women at the time were not supposed to show an interest in math or science.
