Once upon a time, in a land not so far away, there lived a girl with her mother and housekeeper. Amina, the little girl, was a bright and bubbly kid who loved her mother and loved Janet, the housekeeper, so so much.

Although she was the only child, they did a great job at playing with her and always keeping her company. They had been living together for 12 years.

One day, Amina was on her way back from school. The road was packed. Sitting there in the bus, as she thought about the board game her and Janet were going to play that night, her eyes landed on something right outside her window. She came closer to the window to take a good look.

Sitting in the middle of the street, looking at Amina, was the most adorable puppy ever. Amina had always been in love with dogs. She had pictures all over her room of them. It seemed like this puppy was trying to talk to her! As she moved back to take a good look at the street, she realized that the puppy was standing right outside of a shelter. She thought the puppy must be suffering. It broke her heart.

As soon as she got home, Amina raced to her mother's room and explained what she saw. She was determined to save that dog in any way. In her head, she thought the best plan was to donate money to the shelter. Amina knew that she couldn't ask her mom for a puppy because her mom was afraid of dogs, and because their house was a bit too small for a forth member. Her mother said that she would be happy to donate and help out the shelter. Amina thought that was all she needed.
