The wheel on which the rope is moving is a pulley.  It Helps to pull out water easily. It is called a simple machine.

What are machines

It is the instruments that make our work easier. It consist of a input , output and a process. .

Lets take a closer look at the well. The input force is the pulling of the rope. The process ,  the rope fits into the groove in the wheel, and pulling on the rope turns the wheel.  The output force pulls up the bucket of water. The pulley makes it easier for them to get the water from the well.
