"Hi there! My name is Abelia, and this is planet Earth, the 3rd planet from the Sun in our solar system. Nice to meet you!"

"Planet Earth is home to many animal, sea animals, plants, and humans, just like you!"

"In recent years, Earth has been going through some changes that have had some negative impacts on the climate and life that live here."

"You see, there are these gases called "greenhouse gases" that are present on Earth and are necessary for life to survive."

"These gases include carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (ch4), nitrous oxide, and water vapor. Together, they work to a produce a "greenhouse effect"; a natural warming that is essential for life on Earth."

"However, too much of these gases can be bad for the Earth."
"Scientists have noticed that the Earth has continued to get warmer, and that excess amounts of these gases in the atmosphere are responsible."
"You see, heat from the Sun gets sent to the Earth. Some of that heat gets absorbed, and then some of it gets reflected."

"The heat that gets reflected by the Earth gets trapped in the atmosphere."

Earth's atmosphere.

"Excess amounts of greenhouse gases, produced through human activities like cutting down forest and fossil fuel emissions from oil/gas companies, also get trapped by the atmosphere."

"Greenhouse gases, especially carbon dioxide, are very good at trapping in heat from the Sun. And so, the more carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases there are in the atmosphere, the more heat they can trap and hold onto."

"This means that the Earth will continue to get warmer and warmer over time."
"Another place on the Earth where carbon dioxide is stored is our oceans."

"Excess amounts of carbon dioxide in our oceans creates a harmful environment for our fish, dolphins, whales, and all forms of marine life."

Hey friends! It seems to be getting warmer over here. We may have to find a new place to live if the temperatures don't start getting cooler.
We agree! It is too warm for us to stay here. Maybe we can find a new place to live.
"With increasing temperatures, weather patterns change, making it harder for animals to adapt to a new environment. And in some places, food sources become unavailable."

We're hungry momma. Can we stop and get some food?
We're almost there kids, just a little bit further and hopefully we can find some food. Stay close and we will get there.
"These events are happening right now on Earth, and unless we can change how these greenhouse gases get produced and emitted into our atmosphere and oceans, it will only get worse."
