We dedicate this book to the children, their families, moreover to the brave firefighters that tried to contain the fire on our beautiful mountain called Berry Creek in northern California, occurred in August of 2020. Our respect also goes to all the wildlife perished during the fire.

We want to raise an awareness so people stop burning illegally during the dry season.

For many years, Noni and Otto worked very hard to build a little cabin up on the mountains in California. They had a big dream to retire there. They wanted to spend the rest of their lives in their peaceful land surrounded by nature and animals.

Noni and Otto, with the help of Eggo, their oldest son, made their home a nice and cozy place to live.

Together, they planted a vegetable garden, and grew several fruit trees.

During hot summer days, Noni, Otto, and Eggo would go to the creek to refresh. They enjoyed their land so much!

Noni, Otto, and Eggo were worried because the land was very dry. It didn't rain for many months. It was a very hot summer season this year.

Then one day, a big fire started.....

Firefighters from everywhere came to help put out the fire. But the Santa Ana winds were too strong and they blew our way. Not even the helicopters could help.

And the fire burned the whole mountain.

Noni, Otto, and Eggo lost their home. The mountain was so sad without their glorious trees and animals! There were no more houses, no more schools, no more churches. Everything was gone, even the gas station! Not only Noni, Otto, and Eggo lost everything, but everyone else did too.
