This is the story of how a little bit of kindness can last you a lifetime.
And yes... in my world animals can live on with us.

Once, when I was a little girl, I saw a bird lying on the floor in my backyard.
I looked everywhere to find its nest, but I couldn't find it. I couldn't find its mother either. It was all alone.
I ran back into the house to my mom and yelled, "Mommy! Mom! I found a bird, and it's hurt!!" When my mom saw me with the bird she quickly grabbed her keys and drove us to the vet.
When we got there my mom told a woman at a desk to get a doctor. Once the woman saw inside the box we had placed the bird in she nodded and rushed to the back. We only had to wait a few second before a doctor came out and took a look at it.
He held it up to get a better look at it and finally said, "It'll be okay, but its wing will need time to heal." I couldn't begin to tell you how relieved I was.
For the next few weeks, after I begged my mom for a solid five minutes, we took care of the bird. I would talk to it every single day when I could, and I would often take it outside because I thought it might make the bird feel better. I even named it Greenie. When the weeks past by I knew that it meant that the bird would soon leave. That made me sad because it had become my best friend, but I was also happy that it was getting better.
So when the day came that the bird would try and fly away, I was equally happy and upset. I did end up crying when it flew away . I would miss it very much, but not for very long...
One day as I was swinging I happened to see a bird land on my play house. After looking at it for a while I noticed it looked very familiar...It was Greenie! I ran over to it with a huge smile, and when it didn't fly away I knew for sure it was Greenie. From then on Greenie would visit me.
This would continue every week, but sometimes I wouldn't be able to see Greenie because I had to start school.
