Anne was 7 years old! She had a best friend named Logan. Anne and Logan had a special bond over star shirts. Logan was special because she was transgendered. Meaning she was born a boy, but felt like she was a girl. But no matter what ,these two girls were best friends for life!

It was Anne and Logan's first day of first grade in a new school.

They where lucky because for as long as they could remember they have been in the same school.

After recess and lunch, it was time to read. Logan had to go to the bathroom. At their new school you had to bring a buddy to go with you so you wouldn't get lost. Anne immediately shot her hand in the air so she could accompany Logan.

In their old school they didn't have two separate bathrooms for girls and boys. They just had a bunch of stalls. When they walked down the hallway they found the bathrooms. There was a boy's and a girl's bathroom. Logan walked to the girl's. Just then the principal came walking out of his office. "Hold on one second, young one," said the principal. Logan didn't think he was referring to her. So she kept walking. "Logan," the principal said. I think you are walking into the wrong bathroom young boy. "But I'm not a boy!" said Logan, a little louder than her usual voice.

"Oh then there must be a mistake," said the principal. "On your birth forms that the school requires for each child, it says your gender is  male." Logan seemed a little frustrated. Anne felt the need to help Logan. And she yelled out, "She's a girl! And she is allowed to go into the girl's bathroom." Logan appreciated what Anne did, but still felt uncomfortable. The principal apologized and walked away. 

"I am a girl!" Logan thought. "And people need to realize that. It was not fair!" For the rest of the day, Logan didn't feel like herself.

After a while Anne saw that Logan still didn't seem comfortable going in to the girl's bathroom. Anne didn't really know why, but that didn't matter. She just wanted to help.
