I chose to take Chinese because I really wanted to take a language starting in 7th grade. I already know Spanish and I’ve always wanted to learn Chinese. My greatest accomplishments while taking Chinese is learning so much more about the culture and learning how to write/pronounce the characters. My favorite memory in Chinese class would be either the day we did the dragon dance or the day we made dumplings in class. Besides being a fun class, taking Mandarin can help one day when applying for college or a job. You never know when you might have a friend or customer who only speaks Mandarin.

I chose to take Chinese because I thought it would be interesting to learn a different language. Now I can somewhat read Chinese, count, tell the date in Chinese, and pronounce the words correctly. One of my favorite memories in this class was when we went on a field trip to some kind of Chinese learning center. I don’t remember the name. I had so much fun, since we made paper handmade and we did the dragon dance. The food was great too, we made a ball with red bean paste in it and it was delicious. Other memorable memories I had is when we made dumplings and moon cakes in this class and it was really fun. I plan on taking Mandarin again since I need the credit but I really like this class so I’m excited for next year. The kind of advice I would like to give the incoming 8th graders is to just do your work, pay attention in class, and have fun.

The reason why I chose to take mandarin was because of the its culture and aesthetic feel. Me being born in America, within a Filipino household; English was a large part of my language life. At the start of the 7th grade, I saw mandarin a foreign language completely different from what I came from. So I took it, simple as that. But because of that there were many memories I made along the way. Still there is one memory that sticks out like a thumb. The day of the Chinese Dragon Dance.
It was a dance consisting of of several people and a large dragon. Multiple people would hold poles all controlling the different parts of the dragon. The rush and holding a large dragon and almost falling was a fantastic. I can definitely say that was my most memorable moment of the school year. While I can it was fun, it didn’t come without benefits. From more jobs to chose, to being able to understand a entire new language. Mandarin opens up a new world to culture, and opportunities. Making traveling across the entirety of China, a much easier task or different Jobs which require the understanding Mandarin. Its a large world and with Mandarin, it only gets bigger.

I choose Chinese to have the knowledge of speaking a different language. I accomplished just enough understanding to answer or reply to someone. My most memorable memory in this class was the Chinese New Year poster we did. I plan on taking the minimum number of classes in High School. Learning Mandarin opens more job opportunities and improves memory. Try to always be caught up with your homework is some advice I would give.

I chose to learn mandarin because I was motivated and encouraged to learn a new language by my parents. My accomplishments in Chinese are that I am able to recognize and familiarize myself with some characters I find in my everyday life. I would say any activity we did in mandarin class was fun and memorable, for example making cultural foods and painting traditional opera masks. Learning mandarin can help me academically and with career planning because it can open many opportunities for me because I will be bilingual. My advice to the future 8th graders learning mandarin is to be patient with your progress and understanding and recognizing not everything will come to you easily, but it's a fun adventure and learning a new language comes with challenges but also the best thing is that you will learn that you can travel to another country without ever leaving the comfort of your own home.

I decided to take mandarin so that I can learn a language other than my own and a chance at job opportunities. Thanks to this class, I can now speak mandarin well and recognize some characters. The most memorable memories in this class is the friends that I've made along the way. Now whenever I step into this class, it feels like I'm entering my second home. I plan on taking two more mandarin classes so hopefully I get better at the language. Once I am fluent in mandarin it will help me get more opportunities for my future career. Also, I feel it will help me tremendously academically, especially with writing and understanding even more languages along the way. My advice for incoming 8th graders is to pay attention and behave. You will learn the language much easier that way. Also, if you are struggling with some mandarin then don’t be afraid to ask Mrs. Luo. She has helped me out a lot with learning this language and will gladly help out any one of her classmates. Last, but not least, have fun!

I chose to take Chinese because I’m very interested in Chinese culture and language. I also think that learning mandarin would help me with a future career. My accomplishments in this class are: being able to read and speak some Mandarin. My most memorable memory in class was when we cooked dumplings in the 7th grade. I plan to continue learning in this class until I’m unable to, but I’m also going to take another class in high school which is the art academy. I think that learning mandarin is important to businesses because some may require you to know a second language. My advice for incoming 8th graders is to keep up with assignments and homework. Another piece of advice I would say to the incoming 8th graders is to don’t forget to have fun and enjoy every moment in your class.
