who inspired me to tell this sweet tale - Enjoy!

Soozy may be considered slow by most, but she preferred
oozing her way through life, because truthfully she had no
other choice - or so she thought. What others didn’t realize
is that there are great advantages in taking time to stop and
examine cool things along one’s journey.
Highly educated on many subjects, Soozy learned to use her
sense of telepathy and sign language to communicate with
others since she lacked ears. Not to mention her poor vision
forced her to wear thick glasses – but she could care less
about glamour and believed glasses made her appear
smarter.

Sliming around at dusk when the weather is a bit
cooler, Soozy welcomed drizzly rainy days to keep her
body soft and moist.
As an herbivore, she does not eat meat preferring to
dine on flowers and leaves. Her special diet also doesn’t
allow her to consume salt or sugar and she must eat
calcium supplements to keep her shell hard.
She fancies herb gardens and entertaining tea parties
while chatting about her dreams of visiting the
rain forests of Costa Rica in Central America one day.

It takes Soozy a good 3 minutes to travel 2 feet leaving a
slime trail all around the garden. She studied how may feet
she moves every hour.
She learned there are 60 minutes in an hour… and divided that
by 3 minutes equaling 20 minutes. Moving 2 feet in 20 minutes
(2 ft x 20 min) would be 40 feet in one hour! Therefore, if she
slimes 8 hours a day, 40 feet x 8 hours that’s about 320 feet
each day usually making it half way around the garden.

Today Soozy spotted Anna and Aaron ants skipping past her
on an adventure. She oozed past Lana the beautiful ladybug
and admired her uniform red dress with black polka dots.
Noticing Lana preferred to munch on the sweet delicious pink
hibiscus flowers Soozy sampled them and deemed they tasted
like cotton candy - the aphid bugs were like sprinkles on top!
Two other lovely ladybugs Linda and a Lidia were enjoying an
herbal tea party inviting Soozy to join them. She graciously
waved her tentacle to decline because it was going to take her
half the day just to get half way to her destination, the
Gardenia Bush Lounge.

Leaving behind a silvery track, Soozy continued up the
walkway passing fuzzy Bailee bee whose preference is the
exquisite yellow flowers she supposed because they tasted
like butterscotch.
Bailee is all about the “bees-knees” of making honey. Boy
bees Bobby, Benny, Brian, Billy, Brody and Booger buzzed
around the daffodils…while the lady bees Barbie, Becky,
Bonnie, Betty, Bella and Britty favored the jasmine flower
bushes.

Once in a while Soozy catches a glimpse of Hugo the
hummingbird who flies in all the way in from Brazil.
Wicked fast, flitting from flower to flower, Hugo sips
the syrupy nectar making her dizzy just watching him.
In Hugo’s Spanish accent he said, “Sussee, deez leelees
ar so deeleeshus, you chood try som tiiiimes, jes?” But
before Soozy can use her sign language Hugo was already
whizzing off to some other flower patch…

Cautious when near Mr. Blake the snake is near; his
presence gives her the ebbie jeebies. He’s been
around a long time and usually is in a grumpy mood
from being chased out of the yard so many times.
Ricky raccoon is what Soozy calls an optimist because
he is always being hounded by a dog but never lets
this get him down. His positive philosophy is “Always
be kinder than necessary.” Mr. Blake, the pessimist
would stick out his tongue out you and say,
“Psssssssst to that,” then slither off into the garden.

Gordon the garden frog is the most charming and
handsome of them all. Soozy can feel his vibrations
when he says, “Riiiibbbbiiiiit Riiiiibbiiiiiit”…making her
tentacles quiver.
One time he hopped up to her and vibed his “Ribbit
Ribbit,” with a twinkle in his eye, and it gave her the
goose-bumps! (Yes, snails can get goose-bumps!)
It made her want to pop out of her shell.

Staying out late in the full moon light while
gazing up at the stars through her thick glasses,
Soozy felt minuscule in this ginormous world.
She imagines being a world famous Astrologer
studying the cosmos and learning about every
planet and how vast the universe really is.
Some would call her a bookworm, but she’s like,
“HELLO, I’m a snail, not a worm!”

After a long day, Soozy curls up into her shell for
a snooze; slipping off into a wonderful dream state
she fantasizes that one day she and Gordon get
married in the flower garden and soon after spawn
some frails and snogs (which is a cross between a
frog and a snail or a snail and a frog.)
She envisions herself sliming up on Gordon’s
magnificent back as he carries her onto a sailboat
out to the sea, while basking in the moonlight he
croaks love songs to her all night long…

Soozy awoke with tremendous joy in her sincere little snail
heart. She couldn’t wait to get over to Gardenia Bush Lounge
where she would absorb the appealing fragrance of gardenia
flowers consuming its succulent leaves.
Ugh, but it was going be an arduous quest;
she dreaded dragging her body across the parched driveway
with the risk of being stepped on and squished…she truly
wished there was an easier way to travel.
