In the cold, snow-covered hills lived a family and their small baby penguin, Bartholomew. Bartholomew was afraid of everything. He had shelves of first aid kits, emergency fish, and even a set of wings so he could fly away if he were ever to be in danger.

One Monday morning, the baby penguins were all learning how to swim. Splish! Splash! Splosh! They all jumped in one by one.
Until Bartholomew was up. He hesitated. He thought about all the possible dangers he could face. He thought about the animals that wanted to eat him.

He waddled away and all the penguins laughed and made fun of him. Bartholomew slithered to his house out of embarrassment and fixed his safety equipment.

Suddenly, he realized that he was supposed to be watching his baby brother who was not yet hatched. In the distance, he saw the egg rolling towards the ocean.

Bartholomew slid down through all the dangerous paths until he got to the edge of the ice. This time, with no thoughts he jumped in.
