Michael has been looking forward to the first day of school for a few weeks now. However, Michael woke up very frightened this morning thinking about how the first day is going to go.

Will the teacher like me? Will I make friends? Will I know what to do? These were all questions that were going through Michael's head.

Michael's mom walks him to his new classroom and tells him "Have a good day"! Michael is not sure he will have a good day. 

Michael unpacks his school supplies and proceeds to go sit in the circle with his classmates and teacher. 

The teacher goes around the classroom and has each child introduce themselves and name one thing they did this summer. 

Michael introduces himself to his classmates and told them one thing he did this summer: Hershey Park. 

My mom took me to Hershey Park!

Shane, a classmate of Michael's told Michael that he also went to Hershey Park. Shane and Michael then became friends and went off to play. 

The moral of the story is that although we may be afraid to try new things and meet new people, sometimes really good things can come out of it so put yourself out there and see what you get back. Michael made a new friend based on having something in common. His fear went away.
