Giant Movie Monsters: Godzilla!

They are big!
They are strong!
They are famous!
They have been around for very long!

They are Giant Movie Monsters!
Ever since the early 1900s, giant movie monsters have become a popular concept in the movie industry. However, one monster that stands out the most is the king of the monsters himself: Godzilla!

For anyone that does not know about this monster, Godzilla is a giant radioactive lizard that is known for breathing fire like a dragon and for causing destruction wherever he goes. This giant monster made his first appearance in the 1954 Japanese movie Gojira (aka Godzilla: King of the Monsters!) and was created by the talented mind of Japanese movie producer Tomoyuki Tanaka (1910-1997).

Born in 1910, Tomoyuki Tanaka had worked for a Japanese theater company known as Toho Studios and made more than 200 movies, 22 of which involved Godzilla. It was through some inspirations such the 1933 movie King Kong and the 1953 movie The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms that motivated Tanaka to create the monster that is widely known to this very day. He even based the monster's design from prehistoric dinosaurs such as Tyrannosaurus, Iguanodon, and Stegosaurus.
