Geologist, a scientist who studies the solid, liquid, and gaseous matter that constitutes the Earth and other terrestrial planets.Geoscientists study the physical aspects of the Earth, such as its composition, structure, and processes, to learn about its past, present, and future.Geoscientists help protect the planet by studying it, learning from it, and predicting what the future will bring. They perform environmental assessments and study global environmental systems. They locate water, mineral, and energy resources. They predict geological disasters
You'll need to have: strong IT, numerical and computational skills, to handle large data sets excellent communication and interpersonal skills flexibility and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team the ability to express ideas and findings clearly, both orally and in writing, to produce reports and make presentations
Some of the major oil and gas companies, and engineering and environmental consultancies, offer structured training programmes. Training is delivered through a series of projects or assignments, alongside modules aimed at giving an overview of the business and developing expertise in general and specialist areas.
With smaller companies you're likely to receive on-the-job training, which includes induction and safety and survival training.
If you wish to apply for a research post in industry, university or a museum, you'll usually need a PhD or DPhil (Doctorate) research degree.
For those with a geology degree, membership of The Geological Society can be useful for networking and for keeping up to date with the industry. There are membership bodies for most geoscience disciplines and many employers will encourage you to become chartered with a body relevant to your area of expertis.Continuing professional development (CPD) is vital throughout your career in order to develop your expertise and to keep up with technical advancements and new and developing areas of work.

STEAM JOB:
It’s no surprise that the occupation of a biomedical engineer ranks high on our list of best STEM jobs, as it merges the robust STEM industries of healthcare and engineering. Applying skills from both fields, biomedical engineers are responsible for designing and developing tools (including software and computer applications) for the healthcare industry.
This is a high-paying career that requires only a bachelor’s degree in engineering or bioengineering for entry. A master’s degree will make you more competitive for open positions, however, and can also prepare you for future advancement opportunities.
Biomedical engineering is the application of the principles and problem-solving techniques of engineering to biology and medicine. This is evident throughout healthcare, from diagnosis and analysis to treatment and recovery, and has entered the public conscience though the proliferation of implantable medical devices, such as pacemakers and artificial hips, to more futuristic technologies such as stem cell engineering and the 3-D printing of biological organs.
Engineering itself is an innovative field, the origin of ideas leading to everything from automobiles to aerospace, skyscrapers to sonar. Biomedical engineering focuses on the advances that improve human health and health care at all levels.

STEAM JOB: MECHANICAL ENGINEER

MECHANICAL ENGINEER
Mechanical engineers are creative people who research, design, develop and test devices. They design
power-producing machines, such as electric
generators, internal combustion engines, and
steam and gas turbines, as well as power -
using nachines, such as refrigeration and air conditioning systems. They also design other machines inside buildings, such as elevators and escalators. They analyze their work using the principles of motion, energy and force and design to manufacture to the marketplace for any object.

WHAT SKILLS DO MECHANICAL ENGINEERS NEED?
The essence of engineering is problem solving. Besides, mechanical engineering requires applied creativity.
Creativity skills drive your ability to be
innovative. Cretaing a product is only part
of the equation; knowing how to work
with people, ideas, data, and economics is also essential.
Communication skill is so important. It helps you to work with others more effectively. Also a mechanical engineer should have mathemathical skills, leadership, project management, collaboration and teamwork, computer skills and drafting skills.

WHY IS MECHANICAL ENGINEERING SO IMPORTANT?
Today, mechanical engineering is one of the most important steam jobs. That's because mechanical engineering careers center on creating technologies to meet human needs. Virtually every product or service in modern life has probably been touched in some way by a mechanical engineer to help mankind. This icludes solving today's problems and creating future solutions in health care, energy, transportation, worldhunger, space exploration, climate change and more.

THE FUTURE OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
The future of mechanical engineering is so bright. It assures the highest-paying jobs for
mechanical engineers. Energy conversation
and others are important issues. Mechanical
engineers can work in many industries and
on many types of projects. These engineers will play key roles in improving the range and the performance of hybrid and electric cars. In terms of career opportunities for them, these professionals can find opportunities both in Government and Private organizations.
